Current stage

I feel that I have completed my second draft for my radio advert.  I am aware that I may need to re-record my advert as some parts are not clear. Moreover, on the 4th of January I am filming my sponsorship sequence. I have made a shooting schedule and will be constantly looking at my animatic to remind myself of what shots need to be done and for how long.

New radio advert (second draft)

I have re-recorded my radio advert as before, the sound was not working properly. I have uploaded all of my sounds into Adobe Premiere and they are all working fine. I think the sound in my advert is eloquently and clearly spoken, making the advert professional and sophisticated which was my initial intention.
However, the male speaker is clear but I feel that my protagonist line was not recorded up to a high standard as in some places, audiences may find it hard to understand. This is a problem as this is the part of my advert where the protagonist says the contact details, which audience’s would need to listen to. Therefore, if it is not spoken properly the audience may find it hard to note down the details which could potentially put them off. I feel that I need to re-record this so that my advert is professional and clearly understood.
Moreover, I am happy with the background music in my background which I hope will be reappearing in my other adverts to create consistency throughout my adverts (project).

Below is my new re-recorded radio advert:

Thursday 12 December 2013

Locations

All of my locations will mostly be indoors, due to weather conditions. This is a problem which I am going to have to face when filming. The part of my adverts which I will have to film outside is the last part of my sponsorship advert where the couple get into the car. However, I will ensure that I film in daylight as the camera which I am using will not be clear when in darkness.

Location for sponsorship sequence:

As my sponsorship sequence is featuring a wedding, I wanted the location to look and appear grand. The reason for this is because on my survey results (see blog post Tuesday 24th of September 2013) I asked my audience "what event was best organised and why?" - a lot of my answers were based upon location - saying how the location of the wedding and parties was 'beautiful' and 'stunning', I wanted to ensure I created this image by using such a grand house. I wanted colours such as white, silver and gold to feature mostly in the background. I want the wedding to look elegant and sophisticated, which will engage my target audience. This is because when researching, I came across an advert called 'Fabulous Events' (see analysis at Thursday 12th of September) where the advert displayed images of the events and all of the images displayed extravagant. bold, eye catching and sophisticated events. This is a feature which I wanted to develop in my adverts because I feel that it will engage my specific target audience.

These two images are where the bride and groom will walk, followed along by their peers. The table will be where the bride and groom cut the cake. There will then be an outside shot of the couple walking out of the venue (house) which also will look grand.

Location for TV adverts:

I am filming both my TV adverts at the same time, this it will be in the same location. The first location will be in a kitchen/front room. Below is images of what rooms I will be using, however, I may use some decorations to make the room appear more linked into the theme.

Wednesday 11 December 2013

Actors

For my protagonist, I am going to have a female. I have chosen to use a female as just over half (56%) of my target audience is females. Therefore, in all of my events (parties, weddings etc) I am going to have 50% male/female. However, to include slightly more females I am going to use a female as my protagonist. The female I am using is Cindy Sidhu. I have specifically chosen an Asian as a third of my audience are Asian, and in my advert everyone is White. This meant I would be targeting both ethnicity. Additionally, Asian's are stereotyped to be smart and professional, which is significant because I want my company to appear to be sophisticated and trust worthy with a team of intelligent individuals.

Furthermore, in my sponsorship sequence and TV adverts I will be using some of the same actors. Below is images of all of the names and images of actors I am going to use.

  1. Maxwell Powell
  2. Callum Caroll
  3. Gregor Morrison
  4. Sam Anstiss
  5. Imogen Welsford
  6. Bethany Eley
  7. Charlotte Fischer
  8. Lucy Wise

Recording of radio advert

Today I recorded my radio advert on a voice recorder. I learnt how to use the voice recorder appropriately which helped me when recording my radio advert at home. I found the process reasonably short as it took 20 seconds to record, however, I did more than one attempt. I then put the sound file onto the mac and then put it into Premiere where I was able to listen and edit the sound.

This is my first radio advert attempt:

I am aware that I might have to re-record or change my advert therefore I am calling this "my first attempt".

Once progressing my advert, I have realised my sound is not working properly. This is because I forgot to turn up the sound which now has made it permenantly quiet. This means I am going to record my radio advert again. I have also realised the background noises are distracting in the advert which will prevent my advert from sounding professional. In my next attempt, I am going to ensure I record it with no background sounds.

Shooting schedule: radio and sponsorship

This is my shooting schedule for my sponsorship sequence. Making this will helo me keep up to date on future filming deadlines I will need to meet. This also helps me organise what I will need when beginning to film. I have gone into detail on timing, date and props so that everything will hopefully go to plan when starting to film.

Animatic Final

Below is my four final animatics for my adverts.

In all of my adverts I have used the same, soothing music. I chose this music because when analysing adverts I found that soothing music usually creates a peaceful mood within the scene, and I want my scene to be tranquil and enjoyable. I am also using the same protagonist throughout as in my analysis of adverts (in general) I found that usually the same speaker is kept to create familiarity and consistency between the advertising campaign.

Even though I have created some original, unique ideas I feel that I have also developed some from existing media. My sequence begins with the protagonist talking to directly to the camera. I was inspired my Kate Moss - Rimmel London advert where she talks directly the the audience. I think the next shot of the wide angle will engage the audience as it will allow the audience to see the event as a whole and engage in the scenery, sound and characters. The protagonist then talks to the camera, whilst being in the event. I gained this idea from the Kate Moss ad also as she does this in the Rimmel advert as she talks to the camera then gets involved with a band. I think this will appeal to my audience as I am combining a presentation style advert with slice of life. The close ups I have used throughout the advert will attract the audience because it will present the happiness between the couple. Although Pro Cruises does not show many close ups, the bond between the couple in the advert looks real and I wanted to re-create this, just with a different shot. (Analysis can be found on Sunday 8th September 2013).

My TV advert two has a very different narrative to my advert one, although I have used many similar shots. Similarly to my advert one, I have also used a presentation style advert (inspired by Rimmel), although in this advert I have taken it to the next level and made the whole advert a presentation style. I watched an advert made by 'USwith' which inspired me to crate this advert and the shots I have used in it. I was inspired by the mid shots and how the protagonists and different characters were able to talk directly the camera. I liked this because it allowed the audience to engage with the characters. Also, due to the dialogue saying how they have had experience with USwith, and in my advert, experience with Emerald Events - it makes the information which the advert says more reliable.

I feel that both my ancillary texts are more original than my two main adverts. This is because for these two adverts I was inspired by existing media but the majority of my ideas came about when brainstorming in the initial stages of the project. In my sponsorship sequence I use a variety of shots such as wide angles, close ups and mid shots. Although, in most sponsorship sequences I looked at, shots usually tended to stay the same e.g. lots of close ups or lots of wide shots. Furthermore, in my radio advert the reason why I decided to make it a speech is because speeches are linked to events and therefore the advert was based upon my original idea. Although, I watched the Alton Towers advert and the speaker listed many great things about the part which inspired my list of three in my advert. I think this will engage the audience as they will be provided with an insight into the amount of things Emerald Events can help them with.

*sound added*: Animatic

I have now added in all my sound and dialogue to my animatic. I feel that this is an important part of the process as I can now properly visualise what all my adverts are going to look like. I now feel that I have a more advanced understanding of timing and sound which will be important when coming to editing. I have recorded my dialogue on a device which I have edited onto Adobe Premiere.

Radio advert animatic

This is my first attempt of an animatic for my radio advert. I made the animatic on Premiere, a program I am semi familiar with as I used it last year to create my coursework. However, by creating this animatic I have realised I have forgotten quite a lot of the tools. It is good that I have realised this now as before editing my real product, I can go and revise Adobe Premiere so that when coming to create my product I will not waste any time.

This is my radio advert animatic:

Animatic draft two

I have made another three drafts of my animatic. One sponsorship and two TV adverts. I took on board all comments that were said to me through my presentation thus my storyboard has had some changes made to it. The reason the animatics are still a draft is because I have not added sound to them yet. However, all of the timing is correct which will help me visualise what my three adverts are going to look and appear like. My next step after this stage is to add the sound to help me further visualise what my adverts will be like. Below is my three new animatic sequences:

Tv advert one:

TV advert two: in my original animatic I added in sounds of laughter and background noise. However, it was not copyright therefore I would not actually be aloud to use it on my advert. Therefore, in this animatic I have left the sound out as the sound will be made on the day of filming.

Sponsorship sequence:

What I need: Prop list

To ensure I have all the correct props and equipment I am going to make a list for what I need for each one. Therefore, when coming to find or purchase props I will be able to as I would have already made a list.

For all of my adverts I will need:

  • Camera
  • Tripod
  • Voice recorder

TV advert one and two:
  • Male suits
  • Female dresses
  • Party decorations
  • Prom decorations
  • Champagne glasses
  • Camera (not a real one)
  • Table
The reason why I will need the same props, costumes and equipment for both TV adverts is that I am using the same actors and locations.

Sponsorship sequence:
  • Car
  • "Just Married" decorations
  • Wedding cake
  • Wedding decorations
  • Wedding dress
  • Suits/party dresses
All of these props are iconic of a wedding and therefore it is important I use them. In my audience survey, the majority said how they had attended a wedding in the last year and therefore the audience are aware of what a genuine wedding looks like. I am going to have to bring a wedding to life by relying on props to create a realistic presentation of a wedding.

Radio advert:
  • Voice recorder

TV advert two: further changes

What I need to change:

All of my scenes are in the actors home e.g. sofa, bedroom etc. However, I have decided to change this idea and use my already made scenes and actors from my previous TV advert. Therefore, I now need to re-do my storyboard and change the drawings.

Below is the dialogue I am using in my second TV advert. I think I might have to adjust and change this to ensure it suits my TV advert two.

Monday 18 November 2013

Change of idea: TV advert one/two

One of the problems I am facing is with my first TV advert. The problem is that I am advertising two events but one of them is a seasonal event. The event is a Christmas party which I have realised is a problem because the advert will be played throughout the year therefore viewing a Christmas party in a different season it may not seem relevant. Therefore, I now need to look back to my survey and choose a different (popular) event. I still want to keep the camera shots, sound and editing therefore I could change the Christmas party to a birthday party. Or, I could not label the event and just use language such as "Extravagant parties for any occasion".

Another problem I am facing is that for my second TV advert I have realised that I have a low level with verslimultude. The reason for this is because my second TV advert is very different from the first. My second TV advert was supposed to be shot in different locations in peoples homes, and outside etc. However, after my animatic presentation I was given advice to change this idea slightly. The change is to link it to my first TV advert - to film the people who are in the first TV advert and film their personal opinions on the event, talking about the company. I think this is a good idea as all I need to change is the background of my shots but I can keep the same dialogue. This will create familiarity in my adverts because it is the same actors.

Therefore, these changes will now hopefully improve my idea. I am going to have to edit and change my storyboard in order to complete the idea.

Feedback from my presentation

Today I had to present my storyboard. The significance of doing the presentation is that I was able to express my ideas to the class. Before creating my storyboard and animatic I was aware that I may need to adjust some of the ideas that I had come up with. One idea that was stated as a problem in my one of my TV adverts is that I am displaying a Christmas party. The reason this may cause a problem is because all of the other events I am showing are not seasonal therefore incorporating the Christmas party may be considered a bit irrelevant. Therefore, I may need to change the event I am advertising. Although, the only aspect which makes my Christmas party seasonal is the props (mise-en-scene) therefore I could potentially keep the same camera shots and just change the mise-en-scene to a different kind of party e.g. a going away party or a birthday party.

By presenting my work I have also realised I am breaking the fourth wall in my media. This is because I am combining a slice of life style advert with presentation style advert. I think this is a good idea to do this because I want my protagonist to talk directly to the camera whilst an event happens in the background. Although, If I do not display this correctly it could cause my audience to be confused therefore I have to be careful.

Moreover, I also need to create a new animatic - with a new storyboard. For my next animatic I am going to include sound and a voice over and also think about time. This will help me visually imagine what my product will be like. I think by adding sound, it will help me work out if the sound and action will fit together well. Therefore, this will prevent me from using sound which I may not like with my action when coming to editing. Additionally, I was also told that I need to think about what my advert is going to sponsor. (In my previous blog) I decided that DownTown Abbey would be a good and effective program for my advert to sponsor. (explained in previous blog). Furthermore, I also came to the conclusion that for my second TV advert, it would be appropriate that I use the same actors and location.

Sponsorship advert - what I am sponsoring

I need to consider who my events planning company can sponsor. I am going to come up with three ideas which I might consider for my sponsorship advert.

ITV - Downtown Abbey

My first option which I am considering using for my event planning service to sponsor is 'Down Town Abbey' - the show is aired on ITV. I am considering using this as an option as the target audience is the same as my target audience for my service. This is good because my target audience are likely to watch this show and therefore will view my advert.

Channel 4 - Grand designs

My second option would be a program on channel four - Grand Designs. This is one of my options because the target audience are aimed at a higher class. Although, the age of the target audience is over 40 which makes it hard for my target audience to want to watch the show therefore it could become a problem.

BBC 3 - Big Fat Gypsy Weddings

An program which I am considering using is 'Big Fat Gypsy's Weddings'. I have chosen this as an option because the program is based around a wedding event. In my sponsorship sequence I am focusing on weddings therefore it will link in. However, the main issue I have with this is that the program is directed towards a lower social class, whereas I am targeting a higher class with more of a sophisticated look.

Overall, I have decided that Downtown Abbey will be the program I am going to sponsor. I have decided to choose this program because it has the same target audience as me.

Draft of animatic (presentation)

This is my first drafts of my animatic. Today I had to present my ideas of my storyboard and animatic. From presenting and closely analysing my storyboard I have realised that I need to change parts.

Points about my presentation - what I need to do

  • In my advert(s) I essentially break down the fourth wall. In my first TV advert I am combining presentation with slice of life making it a postmodern text.
  • I need to think carefully about locations
  • To increase the verisimilitude on second TV advert I could use the same actors and location as my first TV advert
  • Who am I sponsoring - who would I want my events company to sponsor

My current stage

I am currently at the stage where I am confident enough in my storyboards to begin to create my animatic. I feel satisfied with my overall storyboard idea's. However, I am aware that my idea may not be the same when my product is finished. I have began creating my animatic on Adobe Premiere which I am slightly difficult to use. Thus, I will need to ensure I familiarise myself with Premiere before it comes to the editing stage.

New sponsorship idea

I have changed my idea for my sponsorship sequence because (wrote in my previous blog) I thought it was too similar to one of my TV adverts.

Below is a brief outline of the storyboard of my sponsorship sequence. When actually creating my storyboard, I will go into much greater detail of camera, editing, mise-en-scene and sound.

The advert will be revolved around an after wedding party. The main people in the advert will be a man and women - the newly wedded couple. The rest of the people will be their friends. The reason I decided this was because in my audience survey I found out that my audience were familiar with wedding events and therefore I thought presenting the best bits from a wedding would appeal and attract my audience.

  • Long shot of everyone dancing – high angle
  • Mid shot of specifically a couple dancing (near a cake)
  • Someone makes a short announcements
  • Couple walk over to the cake
  • Close up of the cake
  • Mid shot / low angle of couple
  • Mid shot of behind the shoulders (middle of them) cutting the cake
  • Close up of cake being cut
  • Close up of couple looking happy

·         Mid shot of man and women getting into the car
·         Long shot of car (with decorations) driving off

Change of idea: sponsorship

From storyboarding my two TV adverts I have realised that my sponsorship advert is very similar to one of my TV adverts. I feel that this will cause problems for my audience as they will be less interested as they have viewed a very similar advert before. Therefore, I have decided to rethink and plan my sponsorship advert to ensure my audience will be engaged into the advert. I feel that realising this in early stages of storyboarding will help me prevent wasting time as I have realised the mistake and can now develop a new sponsorship sequence.

Radio advert script

Radio script (spoken by a male speaker)

*clinking of glasses* (signifiying beginning of speech) - I would just like to say thank you all for coming - and emerald events for helping create my dream event into a reality. If it wasn't for such an outstanding group of individuals, I would not be here, standing talking to you all today. Emerald events have helped with every single detail - the location, venues, theme and the small things like the unique decor and name cards." - (the protagonist) "To find out more information then email Emeraldevents@info.co.uk or dial 0800 833 939. Emerald events - making your dream a reality."

I chose a male speaker to say this because my protagonist (in all my other adverts) will be saying the ending part and I am targeting both male and females therefore I need to ensure I have included a male and female in the radio advert.

TV advert two: choices

People in my advert

As my target audience is mixed gender - I am going to feature both male and female. I am going to include different types of people in my advert so that it shows that the event planning team can cater for anyone and that the service is universal. The first actor will be a middle aged women - stereotypically placed in a kitchen casually. This is a significant location because stereotypically women are the cooks of the families. The next actor will be a young man - on a mid run. I have chosen for the man to be running as it shows he is sporty and I feel that this will engage my target audience. I am then going to include a young women who is in the location of a 'girly' styled bedroom - wearing a dress. I have chosen to do this because I think that making the girl look feminine will appeal to the younger female side of the target audience. I am then going to use an old person so that older people in my target audience will feel included.

I am going to use the same protagonist throughout my advert so that each advert is linked.

Speech:

First speaker "when I first contacted emerald events, I was unsure whether to leave all the arrangements to them.. second speaker "but after I gave them the idea of what I wanted and how I wanted it, they delivered a perfect event for me. third speaker "not only did emerald events deliver an outstanding event, but they go the extra mile by making sure everything is organised efficiently to prevent stress for the customer.. fourth speaker: "I would definitely go to emerald events again, I couldn't think of a better, more reliable and advanced team of people to plan an event up to a high standard" - all shots will be shot at mid shot

·                     There will then be a mid shot of the protagonist saying "for more information email.. or call... etc"

TV advert two: shot list

  • Long shot of protagonist introducing the company
  • Mid shot of women in the kitchen
  • Long shot of man running
  • Medium shot of man talking to camera
  • Long shot of man running off
  • Medium shot of girl on sofa talking to camera
  • Mid shot of protagonist
I am using a lot of medium shots as I feel that it is important for the audience to be able to look at and view the actors body gestures/language but also their facial expression. I want all actors to be looking excited and happy.

Monday 4 November 2013

TV advert (one): shot list

Shot list:
  • Medium shot of protagonist looking and talking straight at camera
  • Long shot of protagonist coming through doors
  • Wide shot of people in a cosy environment with Christmas decor
  • Long/wide shot of protagonist standing to the side talking
  • Close up of people looking happy
  • Mid shot of protagonist looking proud (as if she did the event)
  • Long shot of protagonist walking to the door
  • Mid shot of protagonist bursting the door
  • Wide shot of prom event happening and the protagonist walking through
  • Close up of people laughing
  • Long/white shot of protagonist walking up to a group of three people
  • Medium shot of three people looking happy
  • Long shot of protagonist shouting to people "smile guys!" with a set up camera - interacting with the people
  • Long/wide shot of everyone posing
  • Mid shot of protagonist opening the door and closing it
  • Mid shot of protagonist saying contact details

TV advert storyboard one: choices

Choices for TV advert one and why:

Selling more of a lifestyle - using good looking locations and props. Also, I am selling happiness and the idea that dreams can come true. Will be presented through actors (facial expressions), sound of actors.

Presentation and slice of life combined - the actor will look at audience, talk directly at them but will also be showing real life action. I have been inspired by the Rimmel London (Kate Moss) advert where Kate goes between presentation to slice of life - allowing the audience to engage in her dialogue as well as the action.

Protagonist:

I have chosen my protagonist to be female. This is because my target audience is 56% female. I am aware that it is only a slight difference between male and female therefore by using the main actor as female I am ensuring that the majority of my target audience are appealed to.

People in my advert:

I am going to have a mix of people - females and males. This is because my target audience is a mix, and males are nearly as significant.

Ages of people in advert:

Young adults because this advert is mainly based on events such as prom and parties and young adults go to more events like this as it is seen as their 'prime time'.

Dress code:

I want my protagonist to wear a smart jacket and trousers. This is because I want the audience to think the actor is sophisticated which is significant because my actor is representing the company and will reinforce how the team are professional.

The dress code of the people in my advert will vary so that each scene will look real. For the prom scene, girls will be wearing dresses and boys in suits. For the birthday/Christmas parties people will be wearing smart casual wear. I am not going to dress my actors in lounge wear because my target audience is middle class.

Events I am advertising

  • Birthday and Christmas party
  • Prom
(These two were the most popular answers on my survey).

Thursday 24 October 2013

Outline of sponsorship sequence

For my sponsorship sequence I am focusing on prom. This is because this event was one of the most popular events that was said on my survey.

  • The first part of the sequence is going to begin with a wide shot with boys and girls in a kitchen - having drinks before prom
  • Everyone will be wearing either a dress or a suit to create authenticity
  • My protagonist (main speaker) will then pretend to take a photo with the group of people - interacting with the people by saying "smile for the picture!"
  • The advert will then end on 'emerald events - making a dream a reality'
  • The second half of the advert will be long/wide shots of people getting ready to leave
  • The advert will then end on 'emerald events - making a dream a reality'
Camera:
mostly long/wide shots to show a lot of people having fun - I think this would be effective because when I was analysing Pro Cruises I found that wide shots were used throughout, allowing the audience to view the scenery as well as the characters body gestures and facial expressions

Mise-en-scene
Lighting - natural light as prom is a summer event
Costume to be smart - boys in suits and girls in dresses

Sound
A lot of diagetic sound of people talking/laughing
Voice over of protagonist - this was a recurring feature I noticed in my analysis of advertising which I felt was successful. The voice over allowed the audience to view the narrative as well as listen to a speaker.
(Maybe music)

Editing
Fast paced editing - I have decided to make my editing fast paced because when analysing sponsorship sequences, I found that the majority of the adverts were shot after shot. I think conforming to this expectation is important because I need to ensure I create the advert in the correct length of time.

When creating my storyboard I will obviously go into greater detail of the camera, MIS, sound and editing to ensure when I start filming that I have an insight into what my sponsorship sequence will look like visually.

Outline of radio advertisement

I am going to create a brief outline of my radio advert before I begin storyboarding. When coming to storyboarding, I will create a more detailed script of my radio advert.
  • The radio advertisement is going to begin with the sound effect of the clinking of glasses. This sound effect will signify a beginning to a speech.
  • The speaker will be my original protagonist so the audience will be familiar with the voice.
"I would just like to say thank you all for coming - and emerald events for helping me create my dream event into a reality. If it wasn't for such an outstanding group of individuals, I would not be here, standing talking to you all today. Emerald events have helped with every single detail - the location, venues, theme and the small things like the unique decor and name cards." - (the protagonist) "To find out more information then email ___ or dial ____. Emerald events - making your dream a reality."

This is a smaller, less detailed version of my radio advert. When storyboarding I will decide on the actual dialogue rather than the outline of it.

Outline of TV adverts storyboard

In not much detail, I have outlined a short bullet pointed list of vital aspects that need to be included into my storyboard for my TV adverts. I will need to go into much greater detail when I start story boarding.

TV advert one
  • The advert begins with a mid shot of the protagonist, with the logo in the corner. The protagonist will introduce the company with a short explanation of what it is and how it can help.
  • The protagonist will then walk through a door into a prom 'party' with boys and girls in there prom dresses and suits. The protagonist will interact with the people, combing slice of life and presentation styled adverts.
  • The first event the protagonist will introduce is a birthday party - there will be various decorations to make it seem authentic.
  • The protagonist will then walk through the door and talk about how we can do seasonal events such as Christmas parties
  • The last event that will be shown will be prom - the protagonist will interact more in the last one by taking a photo of the people who are going to prom and being friendly e.g. "smile everyone"
  • The protagonist will then walk out and end the advert saying something along the lines of ... "If you're interested then email us or dial..."
Camera:
The protagonist will be mainly shot at mid shot whilst the events shot at long shots to show the decorations
There will be a lot of close ups and mid shots of people in the events to show happy facial expressions and body language

Mise-en-scene
For the Christmas party there will be props such as a tree, warm lit room and tinsel - this scene will be shot in more of a dim light, with lamps and a fire to signify that it is winter but how it also looks 'toasty'.
The prom I want more to look as though it is a summer event, therefore I will have natural light in the scene. I want the props to look elegant such as champagne glasses and appealing food.
I want the birthday birthday one to look genuine by having cake and various decor.

Editing
For the parties I want the editing to be quite fast paced to show a lot of laughter and happiness.
The prom I want more to slow, to reinforce the sophistication.

Sound
All events will have sound of laughter, and talking in the background.
The protagonist will have a voice over, and anything she says or does will be prominent.

I am also thinking of doing a christening. When I start story boarding I will take into consideration the timing and see if I can fit a christening event into it.

TV advert two
  • The advert will begin with the protagonist again, so the two adverts will have similarity to ensure the audience can notice it is the same service's advert
  • The protagonist will introduce the company then say "here's what our customers think.."
  • The customers will be against a different background, in their own environment  very plain and simplistic so the audience focuses on what they are saying.
  • I want the ages to vary from teen, to middle aged to old -
  • First speaker "when I first contacted emerald events, I was unsure whether to leave all the arrangements to them.. second speaker "but after I gave them the idea of what I wanted and how I wanted it, they delivered a perfect event for me. third speaker "not only did emerald events deliver an outstanding event, but they go the extra mile by making sure everything is organised efficiently to prevent stress for the customer.. fourth speaker: "I would definitely go to emerald events again, I couldn't think of a better, more reliable and advanced team of people to plan an event up to a high standard" - all shots will be shot at mid shot
  • There will then be a mid shot of the protagonist saying "for more information email.. or call... etc"
Camera:
Lots of mid shots used when the people are talking so that the audience can view their happy body language and facial expressions

Editing:
Mid pace of editing, there will be cuts into different people talking to the camera

Sound
diagetic sound of people on the screen talking - no voice over unlike first advert
non diagetic sound of soothing but slightly joyful background music

Mise-en-scene
People to be in smart, casual wear - audience is varied
Natural lighting throughout
People will be shot in their own environment

Logo choices

Now I have decided my slogan and name, I am now moving onto the design on the logo. Creating a logo which is eye catching to the audience is important as the logo is what the audience usually remembers. In my logo I want to include a small image of an emerald as it links to the name 'emerald events'. I have decided to start creating the logo's in Photoshop as the tools that are offered will provide me with the opportunity to be as creative as possible.

I am going to start by looking at fonts. My target audience is more on the edge of females as it is 56% female. Although, even though the audience is slightly towards the female side, because just under half are males I feel that I should create the logo to suit both genders. Therefore, I am going to look into both styled fonts; serif and sans serif. This is because sans serif is more of a feminine font, although, I feel that it might look good within the logo. I am also going to look a serif font as it is usually bold and eye catching.

This is my first logo design. I think the font is clear and attractive which will engage my target audience. The font style is: "Zapfino".

This logo is quite bold and eye catching, although, I feel the emerald looks as if it does not fit in with the text, and I feel that the text looks quite amateur.

This logo looks effective and I think it will appeal to my audience. It is sans serif, however, still looks bold and appealing. the font style is: Apple Chancery.

The reason the emerald is placed in different places in the logo is because in some of the text, the emerald cannot fit between the two words.

Chosen logo and why?

I have decided to use the third logo. I chose this because I feel that the logo is the most interesting and engaging, but still clear. I liked the first logo but I think some of the audience may find it hard to read as the font style is swerved. I think this logo will appeal to all the genders and ages of the target audience as the font is slightly sans serif, but arguably looks bold and is styled a bit serif apart from the flicks.

I am now going to create the logo again, but use the measuring tool on Photoshop to ensure the text and image is at an accurate measure as it needs to be professional. I feel that after this process, I now can start storyboarding properly.
